How It Works

Most outdoor units are factory-charged for a standard line set length - typically 15 ft. When your actual line set is longer or shorter, the refrigerant charge must be adjusted to account for the extra volume in the lines.

Adjustment = (Actual - Base) x Liquid Rate + (Actual - Base) x Suction Rate

Where:
A positive result means add refrigerant.
A negative result means recover refrigerant.

Base: 15ft | Actual: 35 ft | Difference: 20 ft
Liquid: 20 × 0.60 = 12.0 oz
Suction: 20 x 0.15 = 3.0 oz
Total: Add 15.0 oz
